Urla centre to Alaçatı centre is about 37 km — 30 minutes on the motorway, or 40–45 minutes on the scenic old Çeşme road (D300) through the villages. On summer weekends allow 15–20 extra minutes for the queue at the Alaçatı exit, especially Saturday afternoon and Sunday evening.
CAR: motorway from Urla, exit at Alaçatı; only the toll applies. MINIBUS: Urla–Çeşme minibuses pass through Alaçatı; they leave from the Urla bus garage and take about 40 minutes. TAXI: counts as a long trip — agree the fare with the stand before leaving (see the Urla Taxi Guide). BIKE: 37 km, mostly flat, but bikes are not allowed on the motorway — use the old road.
Alaçatı is a neighbourhood of Çeşme known for stone houses, boutique hotels, its famous Saturday market and windsurfing bays. A classic day: leave Urla in the morning, breakfast in the Alaçatı bazaar, the surf bay or Çeşme in the afternoon, back to Urla for dinner. For the Saturday market go early — parking gets hard by noon.
