Urla is a coastal district of İzmir on the Çeşme peninsula. Below are the most practical ways to reach Urla from Istanbul, Ankara, central İzmir and İzmir Adnan Menderes Airport — flight, bus and car options with distances and journey times in one page.
• Flight (recommended): Istanbul → İzmir Adnan Menderes ~1h 5m; 30+ daily flights (Turkish Airlines, Pegasus, AJet). From the airport Urla is ~45 km, taxi/transfer 45-60 min.• From the bus station, take the metro to F.Altay, then ESHOT bus 984 to Urla.• Driving: 542 km via the E80 highway through Bursa-Eskişehir-Afyon-Uşak-İzmir, 5.5-6.5 hours.
• Flight: Ankara Esenboğa → İzmir Adnan Menderes 1 h; 15+ daily flights.• Bus: Ankara → İzmir bus station 7-8 h. Then ESHOT 984 to Urla.• Driving: 590 km via Polatlı-Afyon-Uşak, 6-7 hours.
• ESHOT bus (cheapest): From F.Altay metro stop, line 984 goes directly to Urla. Service ~every 30 min, ride 50-65 min. Card fare. • Taxi: 30-40 min. Higher in evenings/airport hours.• Driving: İzmir-Çeşme motorway (E87) 30-40 min, 40 km. Summer weekends may add traffic.
Taxi/private transfer is fastest (45-60 min). For public transport, take Havaş to Alsancak/F.Altay then ESHOT 984 (~2 h). There is no direct airport-Urla service.
Solo traveller: flight (1 h + airport time = 3 h total). 2+ travellers: driving is more economical (fuel split) but takes 6 h, and the car is useful for moving around Urla.
May–September Friday evenings on the İzmir-Çeşme motorway are busy (Urla, Çeşme holiday traffic), Sunday returns the same. Weekdays are quiet. Early starts (before 08:00) are recommended.
No direct shuttle. Practical route: Havaş to F.Altay then ESHOT 984. Alternative: private transfer/taxi from the airport.
