Leave Urla centre on the Seferihisar road (towards Zeytinler – Yağcılar): a two-lane, winding but well-kept road over the hills. Seferihisar centre ~22 km / 25 min, Sığacık ~25 km / 30 min, Akkum beach and ancient Teos ~28 km / 35 min. No motorway; you drive into the sun in the late afternoon, so take it easy.
CAR: easiest; the inside of Sığacık castle is closed to cars — park at the marina or outside the walls. MINIBUS: Seferihisar minibuses leave from the Urla garage; a second minibus connects Seferihisar to Sığacık. TAXI: counts as long distance — agree the fare with the stand first (Call a Taxi button). BIKE: 25 km with climbs; lovely for cyclists, start early in summer.
The Cittaslow ('slow city') old town inside Sığacık castle, the Sunday producers' market, the marina and fishermen, Akkum and Ekmeksiz beaches and ancient Teos are the main stops. Go early on Sundays — the castle area fills up by noon. Classic plan: Teos in the morning, the Sığacık market, fish at the marina, back to Urla in the evening.
